Title:  President of United Methodist Women

Purpose: To affirm and support the UMW  purpose –
The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Responsible to: The women of St. Luke’s and other women locally and globally.

Description of Duties: Some of the duties are to run meetings, to help set up teams for the four events we do here at  SLUMC, to help find local needs for Missional work, to encourage Missional contributions, and to go to District workshops and retreats. Attend quarterly Common Table gatherings.

Time Requirements: Once a month, preparation for monthly team meetings 1 to 2 hours.  Monthly meetings last 1 to 1 and half hours, unless an event is close, then we meet more for planning and that can only be determined by how much needs to be planned.

Term: Two years

Training and Resources: There are District training days and plenty of printed resources

Skills and gifts: Administration, Helps, Leadership and an eagerness to support the UMW

Benefits to one serving in this role: It’s a fulfilling role to serve other women and to help them discover ways to be a part of women’s missions, issues and needs.
